Conserving Lancaster's streams since 1950
The Water Quality Volunteer Coalition samples streams throughout Lancaster and is a great way to learn more about the health of our local waters. Monitoring equipment can be conveniently picked up at the Farm & Home Center, Poole Forge, or Climbers Run. Over 50 sites and 80 volunteers are sampled monthly, checking chemistry, macroinvertebrates, and overall habitat quality. We are hosting two trainings for new or existing volunteers. We recommend any new volunteers to start with chemistry, and then do a macroinvertebrate training after volunteering for a few months.
We hope to see lots of new and familiar faces at these trainings. Please sign-up here: https://forms.office.com/r/EKTVC7tAVc and let Noelle Cudney (noellelafaver@lancasterconservation.org) or I (amandagoldsmith@lancasterconservation.org) know if you would like more information about our monitoring program.
