We have a training opportunity to offer. As Lancaster county continues to ramp up and support restoration efforts, our team sees value in equally scaling up monitoring capacity. To support data collection efforts, WQMAT is partnering with PA DEP to host a training with DEP’s Melissa Harrison covering macroinvertebrate collection, habitat assessment, and field meter calibration. All of which are crucial when collecting in-stream data that will be considered ‘high quality’ or Tier 3 via DEP’s monitoring standards and protocols.
As you know, DEP has a tiered system for quality of data submitted to their bi-annual Integrated Report, Tier 3 being the highest, and that is also what’s required for data to be considered for any stream delisting purposes. Folks who attend this training should have the intent to then complete an audit through DEP to be officially considered a Tier 3 data collector.
Please plan to bring your own lunch for this event.
