The Middle Creek Watershed is located in the Northcentral area of the county. This 33 square mile watershed was originally named because it was in the middle of the valley between Hammer Creek and Cocalico Creek. Today there are about 39 miles of streams in the Middle Creek Watershed. The mainstem starts in Lebanon County and portions of Berks County and then flows mostly south to its confluence with the Cocalico Creek around the village of Millway. According to the USGS Stream Stats website nearly 42% of the watershed is forested and only about 2% of the watershed has urban development on it. The watershed does not flow through any significant towns but in the upper section of the watershed lies the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area. This lake and area around the lake is run by the Pennsylvania Game Commission and straddles both Lebanon and Lancaster Counties. Presently there is not an active watershed association working within the Middle Creek Watershed but there was a small group in the past doing some conservation work within the watershed. This organization mostly dealt with education and outreach in the watershed. There have been some watershed surveys and plans around Middle Creek but nothing centrally focused on Middle Creek.
