The Fishing Creek Watershed is located in the Southwest section of the county. This is a 14 square mile watershed. Today there are about 28 miles of streams in the Fishing Cr. Watershed. The mainstem of Fishing Creek starts just west of the village of Buck and flows mostly southwest before it enters the Susquehanna River. According to the USGS Stream Stats website about 31% of the watershed is forested and less than 1% of the watershed has urban development on it. The watershed is mostly rural in nature with very few towns or cities within the watershed. There is an active watershed association doing work within the watershed, the Friends of Fishing Creek Association. The Association does outreach and educational work within the watershed and also works with landowners and others on potential stream and streamside projects. There have been several studies completed by various groups within the watershed and outside the watershed as well. From watershed wide assessments to a newly created Watershed Implementation Plan for the watershed.
